Found this wee bit spooky little house today, situated up on a small hill. As always I wish I knew it's story... who lived there, (and who died there?) and why has it been abandoned and left to fall into such disrepair?
Imagine... long ago a husband and a wife built this house, their very first home. They stood at the front door and exclaimed to each other that the view was breath taking and that they would love this place forever...

Looks as if it has great 'bones' ....Love to get my hands on it.
ReplyDeleteVery nice blog, with beautiful photos! / Gunnel
ReplyDeletegorgeous. i adore abandoned and weathered buildings.
ReplyDeleteand your quilts are really lovely.
thank you so much for your kind words on my blog !
they might still be there..
ReplyDeleteI live this kind of thing too. My assistant loved to take pictures and once she stumbled upon an abandoned hotel with the entire front of the hotel missing. The rooms were intact pretty much but the front of the building was gone. We wondered the same thing..what mystical thing had happened there but then I came to my senses and realized that I lived in Florida and it was probably a storm of some kind. But it was still an interesting vision and quite eery. I am a writer so I am keeping that vision to put in a book one day..somehow. Your blogs are very enjoyable and I love Silly Bodilly as a name as my dad used to call me things like that all the time. He never ran out of them...very creative use of the alphabet for someone with a 9th grade education ( if that!)
ReplyDeleteIt's really interesting to think about the lives that were lived in these abandoned places, I feel the same. I wonder why these empty places speak so strongly to us when every dwelling surely has the same history - is it just the discontinuity that intrigues us so much I wonder?
